Monterrey II
The existing landfill gas to energy project in Monterrey, Mexico (engineered
by Adrian Loening while working with CLP Envirogas Ltd) is being expanded with
a further 5.3MW capacity. The new plant, which will be registered under the
Clean Development Mechanism, will allow access to areas of the landfill that
were not included in the initial contracts. Carbon Trade Ltd is assisting Sistemas
Energia Internacional S.A. de C.V. with the technical specification and contracts
for gas collection and combustion as well as delivery to the new power station.
West Carron Landfill - Gas Trials
Carbon Trade Ltd was contracted by Oran Recycling Ltd to investigate the methane
generation potential of the West Carron landfill in Scotland. Unusually this
project was on our home turf. The company installed a mobile landfill gas flare
and oeprated it for a period of three weeks during which methane concentrations
and flow rates were stabilised.
Carbon Trade Ltd is continuing to work on the site under contract to design
a permanent gas extraction system.

Project Location: Ecuador
Start Date: July 2006 Finish Date: August 2007
Carbon Trade Ltd is currently working as a sub-contractor to Eastern Research
Group on the Methane to Markets program in Ecuador. One element of the program
includes a cooperation between the US EPA and the Ministry of Environment of
Ecuador to promote the use of landfill gas. Five candidate landfill sites have
been selected by the Ministry of Environment and Carbon Trade is currently undertaking
assessment studies. The sites include 'Pichacay' and 'El Valle' landfills in
the City of Cuenca, 'Chabay' landfill in the city of Azogues, 'Las Iguanas'
landfill in the city of Guayaquil and the City of Loja municipal landfill. Of
these five sites two, 'Pichacay' and 'Las Iguanas' have been identified for
more detailed pre-feasibility studies.
The pre feasibility studies include gas pumping trials in a program which will
be completed at the end of April 2007. Following publications of the reports,
which will be available from the Methane to Markets web site, a workshop will
be held to encourage the development of the projects sites for gas utilisation.
